As it seems that it is impossible to silently upgrade (using a file deploy job), a 7.4.4 (32 bit) RSCD agent on a 64 bit Windows server.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a method that can be used to uninstall the 7.4.4 agent, say via a type 3 .bat script that uninstalls the old 7.4.4 RSCD agent and installs the 8.2.01 new agent.
Would it work executing that script then via bladelogic?
I think you can either record an iss for the agent uninstall and run that or you can call msiexec w/ the guid of the 7.4 install (in the registry), then run the msiexec w/ the new agent.
This was an issue for us when I started as we had problems with the x86 client on x64 machines. The only solution I found was creating a job that would register a windows scheduled task to run after 30 minutes to install the new version of the x64 agent and then after setting the scheduled task it would uninstall the agent.
