This is new features we added in 8.3 where we shows Effectively Installed - Installed - Missing patches in server view.
The new view was actually a resurrection of how 7.6 looked - a number of customers were not happy that we took away the list of 'installed' patches and that overview screen.
There's an RFE to make this configurable if someone don't want to see other than missing patches in the view.
RFE - QM001789608 - RFE to make the analysis result view configurable so that If we just want to see the missing patches in the view , should be able to exclude other (Installed/EffectivelyInstalled)
An effectively installed patch is a situation where a single patch supersedes other patches.
In these circumstances, the patches that are not installed but that have been superseded by the newer patch are considered effectively installed since you have at least the expected file version or greater for each of the files.
Thank you very much guys.
Is there anywhere in BMC documentation where the definitions of effectively installed, installed, missing, other have been listed? I'm asking because I'd like to know the 'true' meaning of them are. I've collected a installed/effectively from Shavlik site but I'd like to know if BMC has documented as well.
Effectively installed means that while the patch isn’t explicitly installed – meaning it will show up in the list of installed patches on the system, the file versions required are present on the system (maybe due to some other patch).
These are Shavlik specific values, so the Shavlik documentation is authoritative:
