It is better you limit software usage tracking as if you enable n track everything the BBCA infrastructure performance especially the inventory database performance would lower down.
Maintain a Software Usage dictionary of applications you want to track. This way you can control the number of software products you want to monitor.
The dictionary format is given in the Report Center doc.
Hi Adil thansk for the info .
But may i know how BCA tracks software usage details?
and also do we an option in BCA of getting the software details which are not used for past 3 months?
Thanks in advance .
Yes, the information is given in Report Center guide.
Here is a snippet:
The Software Usage component that runs on the endpoint monitors all the
applications that are captured by the inventory scanners, including
applications from the application dictionary.
(For more information, see “Setting up the application dictionary” on
page 114.) You can set which applications to monitor by creating an includeonly
or exclude-only list. For more information, see “Configuring software
usage monitoring” on page 119.
If you want to know which software is not used then in that case you first need to list the software that are present on the endpoints and then configure them in software usage dictionary. Check the overall usage time of the software the one having lowest usage is the one which is not frequently used.
It would be grate if you have any sample for this configuration along with two or more software details which is configured in software usage monitoring in BBCA.
Please share the same. Help much appreciated.
