What version of BSA/BDSSA were you on and what did you upgrade to?
What database is BSA using Oracle/MSQL?
We upgraded from 8.1.90 to 8.2 SP3 on 11/14/2012, using Oracle dbases.
The following link contains some suggestions around Database maintenance and some useful SQL for looking at the database.
Thank you for the information - I'm going thru it now.
Maybe I should be more clear in what it is that I am looking for - Most of the "past" data in my configuration mgr will never be looked at again, but there are some jobs that I would like to hold on for 1-1.5yrs within the cfg mgr (CIS & SOX data). When auditted, the gui-based format that I get from the console when viewing this data is most helpful.
Now, if I can view all of the "deleted" job run data (results, info, ...) from the BLCORE dbase, but still view this data, within any timeframe, in BladeLogic Reports (BLREPORTS dbase), then this works well for me.
But can you confirm that cleaning up one doesn't affect the other?
I suggest you consider a few things:
- is the etl still taking 12 hours to run? what version of bsa and bdssa are you using ?
- what scenario is taking the longest? can you look in the metadata navigator or show a screenshot of that?
- you should be running cleanup on your bsa db - there's a doc here about it:
typically you should not be keeping much data in this database and instead relying on the bdssa dw to store your historical data.
it sounds like your main issue is the ETL runtime, so i would focus on why that is taking 12 hours before you start changing other things in your environment.
