    BL Upgrade 8.2.01 to

    Vinnie Lima

      Upgrading as part of CLM 3.0 -> 3.1 process, and Appserver and it's database was migrated/upgraded fine.  But for some odd reason the spawner wont start.

      Checked the usuals (compare _spawner with _default and appserver workspace for the same show data all output), as well as enable ProcessSpawner in blasadmin.

      spanwer.log snipplet (note, I got this same error in appserver log before the db migration process)

      [17 Feb 2013 22:24:31,501] [main] [INFO] [::] [] Starting Directory Service...

      [17 Feb 2013 22:24:31,516] [main] [INFO] [::] [] Starting RMI registry on host: CLM-BBSA

      Any suggestions?

          This error indicates that the port (9836) which it want to listen on is already in use.

          Usually this happens if

          1) Some other application is using that port. OR

          2) There is already a instance running  and we try to run second instance of the application.

          You can find the process which has occupied that port (9836) using bellow command:

          Windows: netstat -ab

          Linux: netstat -lnp

          If it is case 1, you will have to resolve the port conflicts. (I don't think this will be the cause in your case.)

          If it is case 2, you can stop the running instance or instead of starting new instance, use the existing instance.

            you probably have two appserver deployments set to use the same port for the 'RegistryPort' setting.  you need to use blasadmin to check each deployment (blasadmin -s <deployment name> show app registryport) and fix it.
