CLM 3.x should support bsa 8.2.03. so you should be able to upgrade your bsa install.
since 8.x we manage vsphere through an agent on the VCC system, not directly on the ESX systems, and since ESX 5 vmware is not providing full ESX, only ESXi which would not take an agent anyways.
Yes, CLM 3.0 is certified with BSA 8.2 SP3 specifically for VC 5.1 support.
Contracted service is to implemennt CLM 3.0 using the RDS stack -- no upgrade of SA would be performed. Thus, SA remains at 8.1.
The ESX is at 5.1
I'm told CLM 3.0 is supported on 5.1
Thus, how would SA provisioning be handled as an agent would be needed on the ESX... and what agent/version should then be used?
This doesn’t sound right..CLM 3.0 was originally certified with BSA 8.2 SP1. This is the base version of BSA supported in CLM 3.0. CLM 3.0 does not support anything less than 8.2.01.
So, how come the 3.0 RDS comes with BSA 8.1?
Technically, RDS environments are upgradable…
Wow.. think I really messed this one up... For whatever reason, I was thinking it was 8.1... It is 8.2.01.
Thus, I believe the below is correct, yes? No other variations for performing 5.1 agent install?
Installing the Windows agent on the vCenter server

Install the Windows agent on the vCenter server, as described in
Installing an RSCD agent (Windows)
Previous versions of BMC Server Automation required the installation of a special vCenter
agent. That requirement no longer applies, as you now install the Windows agent on the
file and edit the last line so it reads:
(or name of a local administrator account)
Open a command window and run the following command from the system on which NSH is installed:
command displays various types of information, including an entry for the OS. The OS
should be a Microsoft Windows OS and the letters "VC" should be appended on the same line, which
signifies that it is a Windows computer with vCenter running on

The steps you mentioned below applies for VC 5.1 as well. A regular Windows RSCD agent is sufficient. However, as mentioned earlier, you need BSA 8.2 SP3 to work with VC 5.1.
