For some reason my login isn't working to the docs site. Is there any workaround? What, then, is the point of a checkbox?
Well I'm still coding on other IDEs and HTML so I get your point ^_^
I guess ARS can't get the list of checked values and that's why they only display the first value.
In php for example we get back an array with checked values, I guess it's not possible in ARS to do that.
Workaround would be to create "n" checkbox fields.
I feel your pain. The Remedy implementation of check boxes is intensely frustrating, but it is what it is. As Laurent mentioned, if you want multiple check boxes, you must utilize multiple fields.
At this time, the AR System does not have a "bitmask" field type. This would be a field type needed for multi-choice checkboxes.
As we do have situations where customers want to have the visual display of checkboxes to provide a UI look that they need, we do support an option where you can display something as a checkbox. This handles situations where there is just a box you want to display that a user can select or not and it does allow you to have multiple fields to represent a multi-choice option.
The checkbox is really a display characteristic of a Selection type field.
There is an RFE (has been for approximately 18 years) to add a bitmask type (there is even a data type code defined for it in the system, it just has never been added). It has just never bubbled up to being a critical ask from customers vs. other features that they have desired more.
Hi, Doug Mueller:
Please forgive the six-year old reply.
When you state that, "The checkbox is really a display characteristic of a Selection type field".
Does this mean that only ONE of the checkbox options is captured?
I do see that this was submitted under AR System 8.00.xx. Does anyone know if this limitation is still there in the more recent versions like AR System 19.02.xx?
It's still limited to one row in 9.1.04.
Thank you, Vanessa. We're on version 9.1.00....with service packs.
Anyone on 19.02.xx that can verify.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no plan to change selection field display characteristics. A selection field displayed as a check box will, to the best of my knowledge only display the first attribute, if you are looking for multiple check boxes, you will need multiple fields.
Thank you for confirming, LJ.
