the flow is from HPD:Incident Interface----HPD:Help Desk and ----then to HPD:Work Log..
here if i take a guess then Summary is the field which is going as null in your case to HPD:Help Desk...coz if you see in the HPD:Incident Interface Form the Worklog Summary Field z1D_WorklogDetails(301329900)...which is a Display Only field ideally this value would not reach HPD:Help Desk...this field gotta be inherited from HPD:Help Desk same as to that of other fields like Work Info Notes, Work Info View Access, Work Info Locked....so
now what you gotta do is with the same id(301329900) you need to inherit this field:z1D_Summary(301398700) from the HPD:Help Desk...but as a legal customization i am not sure how about deleting the out of the box field and creating with the same id but as a join field structure so lets do onething that...
Create the Overlay for the HPD:Incident Inerface
Create the View Overlay
Create the custom Field say X (inherit from the HPD:Help Desk Form) z1D_Summary(301398700)
and map this custom field X in the Webservice
and generate the wsdl and then pass the Summay value in the X and then try...that should go fine...
Can you pass some value to <urn:Work_Info_Notes></urn:Work_Info_Notes> and check

Is it necessary to give values for opeartional and product categorization while using update action through web services?
When I created an incident using create action web services, I had not given any value for product and operational categories.
have you resolved this error??

are you passing any product categorization tier 1 tier 2 or tier 3 ??in your request??
I am not sure how it got resolved but yes I am not getting this error anymore. I just followed Gayatri's suggestion and revalidate the entire code and rerun it. First I got same above error for resolution product category. After I entered values for resolution product category , It is now showing errors for product categorization. I have even added all values for Product categorization tier 1, tier2 ,and tier 3 but still getting error message.
I thing I would like to mention here is that this time I have also included optional fields like <urn:WorkInfoAttachment1OrigSize>12</urn:WorkInfoAttachment1OrigSize>
which were not present last time. I had manually deleted all optional fileds last time. When I validated XML code it showed error for field WorkInfoAttachment1OrigSize. After giving values now I have successfully validated the XML code but stuck with <faultstring>ERROR (1291037): ; The product categorization information error.
The product category which you are filling up..do one thing open the incident management open any of the incident in which Product catagorization is already mentioned and saved successfully take that tier 1 tier 2 and other values and put it in your request and try once....
Still no luck.
I saved both resolution categorization and product categorization for an incident manually.
but still unable to use Update action of web services for that incident.
So u opened up the incident which you are trying to update through web service and manually filled in the prod cat and resolution cat...and now you are trying to update the same incident still having issues ?
Now are you filling in prod cat and resolution cat or not ...I mean are you passing those info in your web service request?
If you are not passing then pls let us know what is the issue are you getting...if you are passing then try not to pass these values ...let's see how that goes
Finally I was able to update the incident. I removed both product categorization and resolution cat and it worked this time. (I closed all previous sessions and created a new one )
