The PXE boot process requires that the DHCP RESPONSE contains a number of custom DHCP options (211 and 212). These can not be set in a VMware DHCP server as far as I am aware.
If you simpyl want win2k8 VM's without static IP's then BSA can deploy from template via vCenter.
Lee, can you be more specific about what you're trying to accomplish? Are you attempting to bare-metal provision a Windows 2008 Server or VM provision? If bare-metal, are you asking if you can use VMware's DHCP vs standing up a Windows DHCP server? What product/version of VMware are you talking about?

You can create a boot image with IP and Port for the BMI call back -- this relieves the need to pass over the scope option 211 and 212.
Edit the mkgen2img.sh with:
echo ' export BL_AS=x.x.x.x' >> $BSHRC
echo ' export BL_AP=9831' >> $BSHRC
Edit the init.bat with before the bmi call
