I'm not familiar with DansGardian, but everything else on the list is supported for patching. Typically in Support we do not hear much of success stories - I hear disaster stories and then turn them into success : )
Your success will be measured by how prepared you are. I think windows patching is one of the well documented areas out there when it comes to webinars, whitepapers, knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides.
Starting something new will never be perfect, but all the knowledge is available to make it a success.

About DansGuardian, don't know if it's any Vendor Patch Content.
Vendor Patch Content(VPC) is for UNIX based patching, and in BSA 8.2, the only module that's left in VPC is HPUX patching, everything else is in the core product.
