what is your appserver version? I think in older releases the entries stayed behind, and only in newer ones they can be removed.
the old one was 8.0 but i upgraded it to 8.2 sp2.
are the old appservers still active or have they been shutdown ?
when the old appservers are online and you click on one of the launchers in the infrastructure manager, do you get a message like 'cannot view launcher status' or does it show you the port the launcher is using in the right hand pane?
the former would indicate that your bladelogic.keystore files are not in sync across your appservers which is preventing you from editing/deleting the appserver deployments on those hosts.
they are still active and it shows me the port the launcher is using in the right hand pane.
the only thing i can do is create new appserver or refresh
hmm - it still seems like there is some problem talking to the launcher.
can you open up a support ticket on this - i'd like to have support investigate this and we can possibly webex. mention this thread and the support person can track me down for the webex.
i just uninstalled the app servers hoping this will remove the servers from the launcher but it didn't.
how about re-install them and see if then I can remove them ?
if not i will open a support ticket.
Uninstalling will not remove them from the db, as you found out.
Can you open a support ticket ?
FYI - re-install didn't fix it.
I wouldn’t expect a re-install to fix this as it has nothing to do w/ the appserver deployment registration.
Hi guys - have you managed to solve this?
I had appserver in MAS, which I uninstalled - but the in Infrastructure View, I still see the error saying "launcher service not available".
Is there an easy way to get rid of appserver?
we remove the App servers entry from the database :
here are the commands:
SQL>select host_name from application_server where IS_DELETED=0;
SQL> update application_server set is_deleted = 1 where host_name in ('HOSTNAME1', 'HOSTNAME2');
replace the HOSTNAMEx with your hostname you want to get rid of.
be careful when you do so.
nick - when you get the '"launcher service not available", what shows up in the AppServerLauncher.log on the appserver ?
Bill, after we removed them from DB, as Dror suggested, I had no chance to look into logs.
It`s fixed, and I`m happy
Hi, I had a similar issue, we copied over a DB from another Dev server and started up the 2 new appservers, they are refreencing the old server in the Infra.Management screen.
I ran the SQL statement above, but it didnt clear out the old server, still shows up in Application Servers. It used to show up in Application Server Launchers, but now its gone from there.
