Yes, the Patch X releases are considered official hotfixes and not trial or temp solutions. If you are planning for a massive roll out, of this patch, then I would also recommend to review the latest SP for 8.1 and consider upgrading to the latest.
Also, the fix in 8.1 SP3 Patch1 is also in 8.1 SP4 and beyond, and 8.2.
Presently we are facing the issue in 8.1 SP3 and most of the environment' servers have 8.1 SP3. We dont have any phase out plan for upgrading BL agent to SP4 or more.
Further, 2 servers on which Patch1 was applied had the issue of Agent Lockout and were suggested by BMC to first intstall Patch1 as the basic step.
Therefore, this is related to BL SP3 and patch 1 of BL SP3....so, are we going in right direction ??
Bill your valuable suggestions also welcomed. BL 8.1 SP3 patch1 would work in this scenario or we need to updgrade it to SP4 or more. Thanks....
If your appserver is 8.1 SP3, you should use the 8.1 SP3P1 agent.
I suggested to consider upgrading to latest, because you are already thinking of applying a hotfix for all agents. If you upgrade all to 220.127.116.11, then down the road you may find something for which the recomendation will again be to upgrade, so you could cut down time for at least one upgrade. But this was just a sugestion to consider...
If you plan to keep your appserver at 8.1.3, then 18.104.22.168 agent is the right one. Do not go to SP4+ agent if the appserver stays on 8.1.3.
I think we would stick to 8.1 SP3 App server and apply 22.214.171.124 to the agents.
