version is 7.6.04. firstly while installing atrium core on secondary server , we select server group option. Then we got a warning that cmdb instance already found on database . then we after complete installation we got error as follwing features failed to install : 1. CMDB , 2. AIE , 3. AIS . in error log we found something like : unable to create cmdb rule engine
i have installed one AR server with all the components successfully : AR , cmdb , itsm , srm , slm , Km.
configured this server by doing these settings in ar.cfg
server name : test
server connect name : test1
domain name : mydomain.com
ip name : ip of ar1
ip name : ar1.mydomain.com
server group member : T
question 1 : in group ranking form
i am getting two servers :
ranking 1 is assigned for all the processes to this server : test1.mydomain.com and no ranking is assigned to test1
I have heard that ranking should be provided to name that matches with server connect name in ar.cfg which in this case is test1. is it correct or should i move on with the ranking to test1.mydomain.com or should i change my server connect name to test1.mydomain.com
question 2: in secondary server i have successfully installed AR in server group. Now do i have to do the same configuration in this server's ar.cfg before installing cmdb and other components .
It's not normal you have two "test1" entries in ranking form, there should only be "test1", but well... If ARS can detect which entry is good...
Perhaps at ARS installation you entered or you let the server name with the domain name.
I guess that on all you showed (ip name) it's not the real keyword? Should be "ip-name".
By the way the IP names should match all the ARS servers members of your server group (so test1, test2, test1.mydomain.com, ips...).
Once it's done, restart "test2" server so it'll create entries in "ranking" form.
By the way, before installing CMDB you'll need to create an entry for the new server in "AIS:GlobalPreferences" but the installer will tell you to do so. In 7.6.04 installer there was a bug where after this warning you could do a "previous/next" in the installer, but it wouldn't install the AIS service. I recommend closing the installer and lauching it again.
Well i appreciate your response . When i have installed AR 1 with all components. Then i checked the server group member form. Then i checked group form , it showed only one entry i.e test1.mydomain.com but after making changes in ar.cfg like adding server connect name , domain name , , i restarted ar server it showed 2 entries now one is test1.mysomain.com and second is test1 only. .
quest 1 so what should i keep my server connect name : test1 or test1.mydomain.com
quest 2 or should i delete the ranking with test1.mydomain.com and assigned to test1 ( as rank should be assigned to server connect name )
First AR server group operation ranking form should show two server name entries, one for primary server and second for secondary server, when you added secondary AR server in server group after installing AR on secondary machine ranking form showing 1 for all primary server related operations attribute and secondary server operations attribute does not showing any value so for this you have to manually modify this form and add value 2 for all secondary server operations attribute.
About AIS:GlobalPreferances form there is no any relation of this to fail CMDB on secondary machine, however this is important to do this AIS setting on secondary machine to install and work AIS properly.
Yep but he didn't configure yet the ars "test2" as server group so it shouldn't have created entries in ranking form.
For the form "AIS:GlobalPreferences" it's not that it'll fail it's just that for some installations you had this screen when installing CMDB so that's why I mentionned to configure it first hand:
I would say delete the one with domain name, then restart arserver from test1 and see if records come back again (shouldn't).
