    web service question

    Yogesh Deshpande

      We have a requirement where we need to pull data from multiple tables of a DB2 database.

      The customer wants the real-time data & so we are proposing a web service to be published by the DB2 DBAs which remedy can consume.

      The target tables contain 8-10 million records altogether & we need to fetch only one record at a time (To be specific - on click of a button, call the web service which will search one record with help of a join query of the multiple DB2 tables)

      The question I have is, is web service an optimal option in this case where we are going to query large tables?

          The table size is not the issue here.

          The important thing is that you ar retrieving one record at a time.

          This would make it very efficient to do from a Remedy standpoint.

          ACTL on Button

              Service Call:

              --> input

              FLTR on Service

                  Set-Fields: from WebService

              <-- ouput

          And it is also important that the DB2 people can design an efficient join behind the WebService. But that problem would be the same regardless of technology.
