Actually if you look at the mid-fiter guide (I only have the 7.6.03 here next to my coffee), it's more something like:

Is it on your form or on 'HPD:Help Desk' or other ITSM ticket form?
If yes than consider use of value from EntryID field (fieldid=1 aka RequestId). Incident Number is stored in field with id=1000000161. Change Management and Problem Management works quite the same way.

when you see the URL in the email does it replace the name of the form with keywords? like ":" in the same of the form being replaced by "%3A"
if I am trying to open HPD:HelpDesk, my URL will be something like
version 7.1 or 7.6.04 should not matter in this case.
Please do the web report from unquilifyied search. Report should have RequestId (id=1) included. Report will show link to your ticket.
1. open in search
2. do the search
3. generate report; include $1$ i.e. EntryID or RequestID
4. run the report
