There are a few documents which can help you set this. Check these:
Page Not Found !!
Look at Documents site, and download the BMCBladeLogicVPCUserGuide.pdf and BMCBladeLogicVPCInstallationGuide.pdf
In the user guide Check "Configuring repositories in a secure environment"
If you have any questions after that , let us know.
yes i have gone through BMCBladeLogicVPCInstallationGuide.pdf but still getting confused with filesets.txt file & .bff file. From where can i get these files so that i can configure patch repository???
You need to use the offline downloader for getting these files, filesets.txt is list of all aix patches,
each fileset/patch is if the type .bff,
Read documentation for offline downloader.
In this docuemnt
Look at at the section :
Preparing for analysis using the AIX Patch Downloader-> under which :
->Configuring the AIX Patch Downloader
But for VPC installation when we put the value in parameters of install.conf file that time do we need .bff files? If not then what is the use of BFF_root parameter in install.conf file.
plz correct me if im wrong.
Also tell me exact action which is needed from VPC installation to Patch repository configuration.
The bff_root from install.conf is used to create the Prperty class and set the value for the BFF_ROOT property in the Proeprty Dictionary to the value specified.
If you install in online mode, that means if during the install , you have internet connectivity to AIX IBM fixget site, it will downlaod all release patches, .bffs, and popualte the bff root
Also, it downloads for each AIX TL/ML/SP, a file called filesets.txt in the <install dir>/nsh/patch/aixpu/policies direcrtory.
But if you are offline, no internet connectivity during the install, this will not happen
And if you have to use in offline mode, you should.
1. Use offline downloader, check the doc, to get bffs/pacthes of one or more AIX TL/ML/SP/CSP and get filesets.txt and all patches in form of .bff files. Offline downloader will be run at a machine which has got access to IBM AIX fixget site
2. Copy all the patches .bffs to the bff_root on the appserver
3. Copy all the filesets.txt to relevant directory under the policies directory /nsh/patch/aixpu/policies
Follow the steps to configure your AIX Patch Analysis job to run in offline mode
I will highly recommend you to go through the documentation once
thnx for ur help.
I will let u know once i done...

Kindly help me to get rid of this problem.
You need to install this on the Appserver as administartor ?
Which Windows is this ?
Is this your appserver box ?
is this your FDBASEIMAGE12 fileserver ?
Can't we install VPC on any other system other than BL appserver?
In my case,
this is the BladeLogic Appserver (Win2K3) as administrator.
FDBASEIMAGE12 is the hostname of this machine.
the vpc needs to be installed on the appserver, or in a directory the appserver has mounted so that it's accessible as local storage.
