Attaching template to the AOT is optional. When we create AOT with template we can set default values for the fields(example: summary, notes, impact, urgency etc.) in the template. And same values will get at the backend application in respective fields. With no template we have to give the value manually for the fields.

No Template is useful for many cases where you don't need a template - you will be asking the user for things like summary, description, etc. Cuts down on the number of incident templates in the system.
Templates can be very useful ; they're good for data quality and for quick tickets. But sometimes the issue is such that you just don't need it.
