Which version is this ?
BBSA 8.1 SP3
for future reference...
You /might/ have to create a local HP SWA repo and point BBSA at that.
Check page 24 of the HP-UX Software Assistant Administration Guide (December 2011) available from:
I don’t think there’s a might about it. for hpux patching to work, we need a hpux server w/ swa installed. this server is the ‘patch helper’ that will hold the hpux patches and other information.
Have u tried using this URL for the catalog:
I am not sure though.
HP did this last year with new version of SWA, and now u need HP credentials to download patches and unfortunately I dont have any to test if this works.
For offline, in case you cannot make use of this URL, or it does not work, try manually downloading the catalog and use the same. You can switch off Catalog download in offline downloader
About using the online Downloader,
You need to copy the SWA_External_Downloader to your SWA server ( u can find this in vpc content under supportfiles)
It has a conf file called downloader.conf which takes a argument for PROXY_URL
Try using "dummy" for username and password, if your proxy has none
Also You will have to set JAVA_LOCATION for java on the SWA server (> 1.5)
Then you need to set downloader_command in swa.conf file which should be given in the VPC User guide.
Hope this helps.
May be a ticket with BMC support should clarify the new URL's if any
I recently opened a case with BMC Support for this very same issue.
It turns out there is a Hotfix for VPC which enables the patch downloaders to use the new method of accessing the swa_catalog via the ITRC website.
The hotfix should be available through BMC Support - I can't see it on the Electronic Product Download website
I'm using the offline downloader (also called HPOaklandDownloader) and I haven't tried the online downloader yet.
I have another defect case open to make the HPOaklandDownloader scriptable, because at present you need to enter answers about using HP credentials and proxy configurations every time the downloader is run.
The hotfix was released for 8.0 some SP level, I think the fix should be automatically available in 8.1.
Did you get it for 8.1 ?
the latest 8.1 hotfix for the vpc includes a scriptable hpoakland downloader. What version of bbsa are you using ?
It is 8.1 sp3...
