Does the configuration utility give you acces to the .map file of the socket probe ?
If so, is your URL slot defined there ?
Yes it does, and I've tried mapping it but nothing is in the variable.
OK, so I checked the events in my BPPN console and none of them have anything assigned to the mc_tool_uri or mc_object_uri slots and I am thinking that they should....any ideas?
You might consider writing a refine rule or possibly implementing an
to fill in the slot(s) that are not being populated. I guess the criteria
for constructing the
URL would be a question. Maybe someone will have ideas about this.
What is to be the source of the URL information if these are currently empty, in BPPM?.
Could it be the slashes confusing things? Try it with a manually triggered event and something simple on the _uri fields.
You can use enrichment policy (or refine rule) to populate any slot with the event URL. Just make sure that this slot in which you are putting the URL is reaching the other product. In your case, Netcool.
URL format is below.
<BPPM_HOSTNAME> and <MC_UEID> are the only two variables.
I don’t know about others but for me the link you have provided does not work. Just FYI.
Lead Product Manager
Event and Impact Management
BMC ProactiveNet Performance Manager
it doesn't work for me either.
In the last reply i think link go currepted.
Please try with this URL
replace <server_hostname> and <event_id> with appropriate bppmserver and event mc_ueid.
Did it work ?
Well I got it to work in what is in my opinion a round about way.... here's how.
I noted that event_ids with ALR or ABN have the same string format so I wrote a rule in the netcool socket.rules file that concatenates the static portion of the URL with the event_id of the ALR or ABM event. External events don't work via this method so for now I have them ignored - so no url is available for them in netcool.

Instead of writing that rules on netcool socket.rules, if you write a rule in cell, then you can form the URL with the eventids readily available to you.
So when the event reaches netcool the URL comes along with it.
If you want I can write a simple cell rule and post it.
