yep. you should use the create, then build a file w/ the property name value pairs and use the PropertyInstance bulkSetPropertyValues command
Thanks for your reply. I have finally found some time to revisit this. As per your suggestion, I am attempting to use the 'bulkSetPropertyValues' command now instead and have created the CSV file as documented in BLCLI help.
Unfortunately this issue is a double whammy as I've hit another hurdle. The instance name for which I need to populate values has space in the name. I cannot get the 'bulkSetPropertyValues' command to accept spaces in the instance name. I've tried escape chars and quotes.
Any further suggestion on this?
Can you paste in what your file looks like w/ the instance name ?
Sorry Bill. This does work after all using the bulkSetPropertyValues command. I was doing something stupid before.
Cheers again for your assistance.
I was able to set values on instances w/ this in my import file
"Class://SystemObject/Test Class/TEST INSTANCE","TEST PROPERTY","SOME VALUE"
"Class://SystemObject/Test Class/TEST INSTANCE2","TEST PROPERTY","SOME,VALUE"
- so you can have spaces pretty much anywhere
