    Editing Rules in Templates

    Joe Piotrowski

Is there another way to edit Rules within a Template besides manually?

For example, in our DISA STIG for Linux I want to replace any reference of ??TARGET.NOT_REVIEWED??="False" within a Rule to ??TARGET.NOT_REVIEWED??="True"

Because the OOTB Compliance Templates have gotten so large this is a manually time consuming process.

You do NOT want to do that. It’s not set at the rules, it’s at the server. It is easy to do. Go to your “All Servers” smart group, right-click and choose “set server property.” Choose the “NOT_REVIEWED” property and then set the value to “yes.” That changes them for those servers.

Now, if they want to set all future instance of this to True as well, then go into the property dictionary Server class and change the default value of the NOT_REVIEWED property to true. Then all new servers will also have the value of true.

Thank you. Here are the instructions to accomplish what you suggested as a knowledge capture.

Steps taken to change the "NOT_REVIEWED" default server property value from "True" to "False"

Explanation: this is to insure that all existing and future added servers do not fail the manual checks established in the OOTB Compliance Content supplied by BMC where the rule logic is:
            ??TARGET.NOT_REVIEWED?? = False

Step 1 - change the "NOT_REVIEWED" default server property value to "False"
            1. Within the BladeLogic Console select "Configuration > Property Dictionary View"
            2. Within the "Property Dictionary" expand "Built-in Property Classes"
            3. Select the "Server" class
            4. Double click the "NOT_REVIEWED" property class to edit it (or highlight it and press the "Edit Property" button at the top right)
            5. Change the "Default value" from "True" to "False"
            6. Select "OK" to save

All new servers added to the BladeLogic environment will have this new value.

Step 2 - change the "NOT_REVIEWED" default server property value on all existing servers from "True" to "False"
            1. Expand the "Servers" category
            2. Right mouse click on the "All Servers" Server Smart Group and select "Set Property"
            3. In the "Name" field select the down arrow, scroll down and select "NOT_REVIEWED"
            4. In the "Value" field select the down arrow and select "False"
            5. Select "OK" to save

This will change the "NOT_REVIEWED" default server property value on all existing servers from "True" to "False"
