    Migrate Audit Log

      Share This:

      Hello,

How does one migrate Audit Logs of Incidents, Problem Investigations, Change Requests into Remedy ITSM 7.6.04?  The forms are not "Regular" forms, so does that mean I cannot import into the Audit form?  Is there a different procedure to follow?

          Hi,

The general strategy is to disassociate the audited forms from the audit form prior to importing data. This is the same for archive forms. Then you re-associate them when you are done.

Our RRR|Chive tool can do this automatically when moving data to aduit forms. But we have one problem, and that concerns overlays in 7.6.04. If your audited forms are overlays, the disassociation will not be complete by the RRR|Chive tool... I hope to fix this presently, but it seems to be some inconsistency in the API behavior. If your audited forms are base or custom, you will be fine.

Export / import of audit logs work fine this way:

            1. Exported the audit records from chg:changerequest_auditlogsystem -- to .arx format.

            2.  Imported the .arx file into the same form in 7.6.04, using the BMC Remedy Data Import Tool  Version 7.6.04 SP2.

In the Import Options tool, the Duplicates setting is set to:  Replace Old Record with New Record.  I use this setting even though these are "new" records that will be loaded, so that the request_id and other IDs will be preserved.

This was also tested successfully by our BMC tech support.

              Hi,

This is interesting news, as my experience is that the server prevents audit records from being imported.

Was your server 7.6.04 plain, SP1 or SP2?

Maybe the Import Tool does some magic...

                Hi Misi,

have you found a way to import data into Audit Forms? It's funny that this document:

                https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/itsm81/BMC+Remedy+ITSM+upgrade+recommendations

at point 10 recommends to export, remove and import Audit Forms data... but this is apparently impossible...

                Thanks a lot!

                Daniele
