the format of the file is:
the format you are using is for the bulkAddServers.
Thank you for your hint, it works with the correct format fine.
Hi, I don't know whether I should open a new thread or it's OK, but I have another problem with BulkSetServerPropertyValues.
I want to add both single and multiple values for each property as needed, so I have a CSV file like the following:
As you can see, two of this devices should end with a couple of values in that property (When manually added, it looks like this: "val1", "val2" in the property field).
This CSV format is what I have been given to work with, so I'm not positive I should adhere to it as I have not been able to find documentation on the subject. When I try to run that blcli from within Jython, an error like this appears:
errors.BLCLIError: com.bladelogic.om.infra.shared.csv.ParseException: Encountered "\"" at line 1, column 58.
Was expecting one of:
Line 1, column 58 is right between [ and " , so I am sure this is a formatting issue.
Please give me advice on how this file should be formatted.
what property type are these ? list or simple string. the , in the middle of the [ ] makes the import command think that it's another column.
I'm pretty sure they are lists (Not at work right now), as the interface for manually adding them allows us to click '+' and add any number of fields. When adding a couple of values, the field says --> "value1", "value2" <-- as I said
And yeah, the problem is that the ',' doesn't seem to be detected as inside the outer '[ ]'... Are there any docs on how this blcli works (The unreleased guide doesn't really get deep on it more than its basic syntax)
I'll have to talk with a coworker who has apparently donde things with the bulk function before, but I'm not sure that she will be able to help me.
Thanks as always, Bill
Hi, after some research (Found thread 77106) I have found that the folowing works fine:
However, I would like to (Actually I *need* to) allow whitespace inside those property values. I have tried enclosing each property in single quotes but to no avail. Also escaping with \s just sees both characters and ignores any special significance they might have.
Thanks a lot,
try double quotes ?
"[\"Prop 1\",\"Prop 2\"]"
No luck... I have tried this (And even more combinations but I'm not sure which ones right now), with no successful results
server,prop_name,["val 1", "val 2"]
server,prop_name,'["val 1", "val 2"]'
server,prop_name,"['val 1', 'val 2']"
server,prop_name,[val 1, val 2]
server,prop_name,'[val 1, val 2]'
server,prop_name,"[val 1, val 2]"
server,prop_name,"[\"val 1\",\"val 2\"]"
Neither escaping the spaces ' ' with '\ ' in any of the above seems to work.
yeah - i see the same issue - i think one of the escaping methods works w/ the setPropertyValue command, but apparently not the bulkSet. if you don't have spaces in the value it works ok. i'd open a ticket w/ support and see if we can fix this.
Did anyone ever figure this out? I have spaces in my property values and cannot get this to work.
The only solution I found was to replace whitespace with another character such as underscores. This may be the solution for you as it was for us, else open a support ticket to see if BMC can fix this bug.
Was this supposed to be fixed in 8.5 SP1, cause it's not ? The second there's a space in a property value, the command fails. Same thing goes with the bulkAddServers command.
This didn't use to be the case in previous releases !
Just opened ISS04487483 for this issue.
are there quotes around the values w/ spaces ??
