There is a problem w/ the latest Shavlik xml files that is causing this problem. we are working to resolve this issue. please open a ticket w/ bmc support to track the issue and so we can notify you when we have a fix.
there's anyway i can bypass the error "Last run of catalog update was not successful for catalog: W2K8 Patch Catalog" for me to be able to run analysis jobs?
You might be able to delete the failed job run.
Yeah, if you have a previous successful run, you can delete all failed attempts after that one.
Open catalog update job results and right-click and delete them.
I been trying to do that but i dont see any option to delete the results.
Right click on the failed job run in the gui and choose ‘delete’ ?
Select the run you want to delete and hit the “del” button on your keyboard. You’re probably right. There is no GUI option for this.
i tried to use delete. Not able to delete. When i right click on the run i only get: Refresh, Export log, Show log.
This is resolved. Shavlik posted a corrected XML file. Re-run the CUJ and make sure there are no caching devices between your appserver and the shavlik site.
I have this same situation at the moment. We really need to patch newly provisioned servers, but that is impossible at the moment. I can't delete failed jobs and re-running fails every time. Last succesful CUJ was on Tuesday morning. I can't delete failed jobs. What else could I try? I'm desperate, please somebody!
That simply doesn't work in my console. Nothing happens when I press Delete-key.
The Windows Update Catalog Job fails with:
Fatal error while updating metadata null
The following error is seen in the appserver log:
Fatal error while updating metadata java.lang.NullPointerException

BMC BladeLogic Server Automation Suite
BMC BladeLogic Patch Analysis Job
This issue occurred due to new supported language added to the Shavlik metadata. To resolve the issue, perform the following:
1) Download the windows-feed-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar for your BladeLogic appserver version. The files are in: ftp://ftp.bmc.com/pub/shavlikfix/
2) Make a backup of the existing jar file in the <bladelogic>/NSH/br/stdlib directory
3) Copy the new file into place (for multi-appserver environment, do this for all)
4) Restart the appserver(s) (Please do not skip the step)
5) Rerun the Catalog Update Job
This fix will be automatically included in the future BladeLogic Server Automation versions and/or Service Packs.
I am having this problem now at a POC with no previous Patch catalog Jobs having been run. I am running this on the BSA server (8.1.6) in the CLM 2.0 CA BMC demo. Since this is the first time the catalog was run, there are no previous successful versions. Is there a quick workaround?
Solution added. Thanks!
