    red question mark

    Oscar Avila

      Hi All.

      I have a question:

Why appear "red question marks" in the Live Browse area?

      RQM.jpg

      Thank you.

it means there are some missing gui icons.  tail the appserver log and connect from a gui and see what error messages you see, that should show you the files that it can't find.

            Thank you Bill.

I have reviewed the log file "appserver.txt" and find several archival lines that mentioned. "Ico files", However I can not find a solution, I am attaching a log part "appserver.txt".

            Thank you.

            Regards.

              Problem

Icons are missing from the gui

              An error occurred while attempting to copy the file //fileserver/storage/blassetclasses/xxx123/icons/xxx.ico to /appserver/tmp/xxx..xml.: com.bladelogic.mfw.util.BlException: No such file or directory;Cannot access source file "//fileserver/storage/blassetclasses/xxx123/icons/xxx.ico"BMC BladeLogic Operations Manager Suite (version 7.5.00) DR: BMC BladeLogic Config Objects including Grammars;

              Solution

              1. Go to appserver\BladeLogic\OM\br\autoimportcontent\customobjects
              2. Rename sysinfo.zip.done.xxxxxx back to sysinfo.zip (other zip files too)
              3. Restart the appserver, and that particular zip file gets reimported
DEFECT QM001620737 - custom objects should try to load at every start until they're fully loaded

              4. Close OM, delete c:\documents and settings\[user]\Application Data\BladeLogic
              5. Restart OM, so Application Data\BladeLogic is recreated with all icons in the GUI
DEFECT QM001620765 - OM user files (ico files) should automatically update if there are new files in fileserver/blassetclasses folder

              ---------------------

Here is another procedure to manually restore the file, if you don't wish to reimport COs to avoid more folders:

              1. grep appserver log for all the missing paths to ico files

              2. start with first on the list: ...blassetclasses/12345/icons/123.ico

              3. search in storage/blassetclasses for 123.ico, and chances are you will find another folder 67890/icons/123.ico

              4. copy the existing folder to missing folder: cp -r 12345 67890

              5. repeat 2-4 for all paths in step 1

              6. restart the gui, and check if you get any more missing icons. If you do, then new missing icons paths will be triggered in appserver.log; repeat steps 2-4 for these paths
