What version of blade are you on now?
is it a x64 jvm?
How much memory is in the box?
Currently on version 7.5 and 8GB physical memory. This instance will be left alone.
The plan is to go with an 8.1 environment running on Server 2008 64-Bit. Hardware has not been decided yet, but I would say a minimum of 8-10gb at this time. The JVM would also be 64bit.

The reccomended max heap for 8.1 on linux and window x64 is 6g. you want to leave atleast another 3 g i think for everything else - eg:
512m appserver launcher
512m process spawner (optional)
~500m C code (outside of heap)
~100m out of heap threads
i would look at 10-12g total memory.
Troubleshooting memory problems is arduous... If at all possible, spec out twice as much memory as you think you'll ever need. I would opt for the densest DIMMs that the server will support. (Of course you'll probably want to populate entire system board, to take advantage of Nehalem's triple channel memory, assuming that you're on an Intel platform.)
