I believe you can pre-create the account/group manually w/ the uid/gids you want.
You can change the GID, but you'll also have to change the file ownership.
change GID in /etc/groups
find / -user (oldGID) -exec chgrp bladmin \;
Please verify the find syntax, before running the command
If you're using X509 agent side certs, this may cause trouble...
I will try this and get back to you sometime today or tomorrow.
Does anyone know if the groupID needs to be unique to bladmin or if it is okay to include it in an existing group?
There needs to be a ‘bladmin’ group as well as user.
Just so everyone knows, here is what we found.
You can setup the bladmin uid and gid before install and it will maintain the values. Changing the gid after the software has been installed will cause permissions issues.
Thanks everyone for your help.
you can fix this like:
usermod -u <old uid> bladmin;
groupmod -g <old gid> bladmin
find / -user <old uid> -print0 | xargs -0 chown -h <new uid>
find / -group <old gid> -print0 | xargs -0 chgrp -h <new gid>
Yes, this is what we did.
I just wanted everyone to know that it did actually make a difference if it is done post-install.
Thank you for posting the steps!
