    BL Agent Not Responding

      Hi,

We are facing some issue with only one servers out of more than 100 servers where BL agent is installed. We have the BL agent installed in one of our Windows server.

The BladeLogic RSCD Agent service is also in Started status but, when I try to open the Server in Bladelogic Console, it fails.

When I try to add the server again in Bladelogic, I am getting a message "Agent is Not Responding". Also, in BL console, I am not able to see anything under Live.

The error message also contains "An agent could not be detected on the server <servername>,. Is the agent installed?

But, as I said the agent is installed and the BL service is also running.

Please help me in this regards.

      Thank you in Advance.

      Regards,

      Sudha

Start nsh and run following command and see if you can see the output:

          agentinfo

Also login to Agent box and see if the RSCD.exe is listening on the configured port  using following command from cmd prompt:

          netstat -ab

If yes, you would see something like this:

            TCP    Hostname:4750   Hostname:0  LISTENING       2072

            Hi Dipak,

Thank you for your response. I am able to get the output for 'netstat -ab' and I am getting the output in the above format.

In Bladelogic console, I am not able to see the NSH for this server alone. The Custom Command option itself is missing.

I also tried uninstalling RSCD agent and reinstalled but nothing works.. :-(.

can you ping the target server from the appserver?

can you telnet to 4750 on the target from the appserver?

what role are you trying to add the target as?

what is in the users, users.local and exports file on the target?

when you try the agentinfo, do the 'nsh here' against another server to get the nsh console to open, then run 'agentinfo <target>'

Ok, now I got the output when I tried to get the Agentinfo from other server's NSH.

The License status Shows License Status  : Not Licensed.

Thank you so much for all your help!!!

How can I get this server licensed.. Please advise on this too.

                Regards,

Thank You Bill. I updated the License in the server and now I am getting License Status as

License Status  : Licensed for NSH/CM

But as I mentioned above, When I try to add the server again in Bladelogic, I am getting a message "Agent is Not Responding". Also, in BL console, I am not able to see anything under Live. I updated the Users files and User.local files.

can you telnet from the appserver to 4750 on the target?

what role are you logged into the gui as?

what permissions are applied on the server object?

if you right click on the server object in the gui and choose 'verify' does that change anything?
