      I fixed the issue by resetting the the BLAdmin and RBAC Admin passwords within the DB.

      Here is my procedure:

      1. Shutdown the application server

      2. Remove the passwords from the database

      3. Re-run the blappconf to recreate passwords.

      4. Restart the application server.

      Could you show the details for Steps 2 and 3 ?

      Thanks,

      Bill

          From the BL Admin guide page 18.

          • Start the wizard manually by running /br/blappconf in the directory where
          BladeLogic is installed, as shown below:

          > In Windows, enter C:\Program Files\BladeLogic\br
          \blappconf -install.
          > In UNIX, enter /usr/nsh/br/blappconf -install.
          Note: Be aware of the following:
          • If your database is not set up or you do not currently have the information
          needed to establish a connection to that database, you cannot configure the
          Application Server. Click Cancel to close the wizard. Obtain the necessary
          connection information and run the Post-Install Configuration wizard again to
          complete your system configuration.

          • If you are running the Post-Install Configuration wizard on UNIX, the
          OS-specific xll libraries must be installed.
          Note: If you invoke the wizard without passing the -install flag, the
          wizard will display configuration settings that have already been entered
          for the Application Server and allow you to change those settings.

          Has anyone used the above to change the password ?

          Thanks,

          Bill

            When I try to use blappconf, the password boxes for BLAdmin and RBACAdmin are greyed out.

              Hello Bill,

              My environment: BBSA Console and BBSA application servers are resided on same Host.

              Today I faced issue of SRP Authentication Failure while log on to BBSA Application console.

              However I have studied BMC Server Automation Version 8.2 Part of BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite version 8.2 and found following topic on page 953, which described about Resetting RBAC users passwords.

              First SQL query is

              delete from system_property where name = 'tpasswd.conf_created_on';

              I tried to search the same name in system_property table using select statement, but do not found any record. So i skipped this SQL query.

              Second SQL query is

              update bluser set password = '';

              which is to reset password as blank of all users which I do not want to, so modified SQL query as below:

              update bluser set password = '' where name = 'BLAdmin';

              Now I moved to Application/Console server, and accessed the Application Server Configuration Wizard. User password fields for BLAdmin user are enabled.

              I have successfully reset the password for BLAdmin user and now able to log in.

              Thanks,

              Suyog

                This issue has come up for me again. I've tried a number of ways to do this but only get:

                SQL> connect /as sysdba
                Connected.
                SQL> delete from system_property where name = 'tpasswd.conf_created_on';
                delete from system_property where name = 'tpasswd.conf_created_on'
                            *
                ERROR at line 1:
                ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

                SQL> update bluser set password = '' where name = 'BLAdmin';
                update bluser set password = '' where name = 'BLAdmin'
                       *
                ERROR at line 1:
                ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

                SQL> update bluser set password = '';
                update bluser set password = ''
                       *
                ERROR at line 1:
                ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

                SQL> exit

                Any ideas ?

                Thanks,

                Bill

                  If you are connecting as a user other than bladelogic then you need to use fully qualified names to the table – eg YOUR_BLADELOGIC_SCHEMA_NAME.system_property.

                  Do you not have any users in the RBACAdmins role that can do the reset ?

                    Unfortunately, this was a dev box with only a bladmin account. Connected as the bladelogic oracle user but that didn't help.

                    SQL> connect as sysdba

                    Enter user-name: bladelogic

                    Enter password:

                    Connected.

                    SQL> delete from system_property where name = 'tpasswd.conf_created_on';

                    delete from system_property where name = 'tpasswd.conf_created_on'

                                *

                    ERROR at line 1:

                    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

                    SQL> update bluser set password = '' where name = 'BLAdmin';

                    update bluser set password = '' where name = 'BLAdmin'

                           *

                    ERROR at line 1:

                    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

                    SQL> update bluser set password = '';

                    update bluser set password = ''

                           *

                    ERROR at line 1:

                      So the RBACAdmin account doesn’t exist ?

                      Is ‘bladelogic’ the right user?  look in the blasadmin config on this appserver to confirm the db connection info.

                        Once the database user is confirm also connect without the "as sysdba".  This will ensure you connect just as the specified user and to the correct tablespace.
