If you have configured your SMTP server settings during the install or post-install correctly, then running your job with email notifications should send an email to the receipient after the job completion. If you are not getting any notification, then your SMTP settings aren`t working.

IS thr any other way to check wether the setting is done correctly or not?
Is thr any log file which will show me the exact reason for notification failure?
there's a blcli command that will send email. try using that.
Mail from the GUI settings for a job completion email works.
blasadmin is set correctly (if it weren't server couldn't send mail on completion of job)

are there quotes around the from and to addresses?
can you relay may from noreply.com through your email server ?
I figured it out... the return address specified in the blcli command MUST match exactly the return address specified in blasadmin. NO faking the return address is permitted. The error isn't tossed isn't very helpful in this condition.
