No, there is a delay when Shavlik validates the patches and updates their XML. It is normally only a few hours (<12) though.
In regards to this, yesterday was MS Patch Tuesday and we have our Catalog Update job set to run every Tuesday night at 11 PM Eastern Time. This was the first Patch Tuesday since we set up the schedule. I was disappointed to find that the new patches were not included in the catalog update. Can someone tell me if there was some kind of problem, or are patches typically not available by 11 PM on Patch Tueday? This may change our process, since we schedule patch analysis jobs for our test servers to run at 4 AM on the Wednesday after Patch Tuesday.
I suggest you register with Shavlik. I have registereed with them and you get two emails each time that there are new MS patches. The first one announces the new patches and for me this comes around 6pm UK time (1pm EST) on Tuesday. The second one arrives around 6am UK time (1am EST) on Wednesday and states that the patches are available for download. Yesterday it came a little later (around 6:30 am UK time).
I suggest that you try patch update times around a 2am schedule on EST and see if that works.
Thanks, I will take your advice.
