I'm searching for a method of obtaining a snapshot in time of CPU usage rates (probably an Extended Object) in BladeLogic. The Internet doesn't have very many ideas on how to do this in Windows short of using some kind of third party software. Pmon gets thrown around, but it has its own set of problems. I also know it to be possible using a VB script interacting with the WMI...but this seems a little excessive for such a small thing.
The whole idea is for a low-level Support tech to be able to see if a server is pegged at 100% or just idling along without having to have access directly to the box. This is NOT a need for a real time stream.
Has anyone tackled this problem for Windows machines in Blade or have ideas for me that might point me down the right direction?
Have you looked at ntop?
ntop is exactly what I'm looking for. A little grepping and awking and I'll be on my way. Much appreciated!
