    Bladelogic Application Server Service

      Hi,

      i just a little problem when we would like to loggin in the "Configuration Manager Console". The system display the next error:

      Can't connect to Service:authsvc.bladelogic:blau://localhost:9840"

      I just try to start the service "Bladelogic Application Server"  but appears and error that display "the service started and then stopped"

      We have shutdown the machine several times and the error is teh same.

      Any idea?

          Did you look at the appserver logs? The file (appserver.log) is located at INSTALL_DIR/NSH/br

          It should tell you why the appserver is not starting up.

          The error could be due to an incorrectly configured agent on the fileserver / database server being down, etc.

          • 2. Re: Bladelogic Application Server Service

            The problem is the file server is not licesed.

            I just executed getlic maap001bmc and teh system display the next message:

            error accessing host maap001bmc: not authorization to access host

            Any idea?

              This might help:

              Check your permissions on that agent. It seems that you do cannot access the server with the current agent permissions. Check the /c/Windows/rsc or /usr/lib/rsc (depending upon your flavor) folder for the following files for user mappings:

              - exports

              - users

              - users.local

              To test, a simple agentinfo hostname would help.

              • 4. Re: Bladelogic Application Server Service

                When we execute agentinfo maapp001bmc (from the NSH console) the system display the message

                Not authorization to access host.

                The user is Administrator (local account windows). Whe need to uses another account?

                          we just solve the problem. We have change the files:

                          User and user.local is empty files

                          export only have the next sentence:

                          * rw

                            One of the simplest way to specify mapping would be to edit the exports file in the following manner:

                            * rw,user=administrator

                            What this would do is that it would give 'rw' permissions (read and write) with administrator privileges to any user who is accessing this agent.

                            The documents (Administration Guide) that ship with the product have a detailed explanation of these files and how to control the user mapping, etc.

                              I'm assuming the agent on your appserver is configured to be used as the file server?

                              the appserver needs to have certain access to the file server during startup.  typically you might put 'System:System rw,map=ADMIN' in the users.local where ADMIN is a local admin account on the system (root, Administrator).  that should get the system to startup up properly.

                              after that you need to think about managing the acls on the file server.  there are a few best practices on how to do this..

                                Are these Best Practices available to us to download somewhere?  I see in the users and Admin guides how you functionally do things, but rarely how to best do something.

                                  we are working on these - so far we've published documents about scaling appservers, provisioning and compliance and there are some others coming out.
