I do not believe we can map to NIS users. The mapped account needs to be a local account.
It works with NIS user. Why do you think it should not work with NIS user?
I don't think it will work because NIS is not a local account. It does not exists locally on the system. On windows, you cannot map to a domain account on a member server, so this may be similar. It's possible that NIS is more integrated w/ the OS and it will work.
Anyway, I would look in the rscd.log when you run the job. See what errors you are getting back. That should tell you where the problem is.
I think I have done it.
I configured user files with NIS user...(NIS server is runnig of course)
The only thing I need to do apart from changing users file, is to give some permissions to NIS user on rsc Tracsaction directory and staging directory
(Also NIS user has access to his home directory, that I created using mkdir and chown to user)
Now I can run my jobs from some app server, connecting rscd on targer server running on NIS account and can deploy files
(When the job is running I can see using ps -ef | grep rsc that rscd service is running with NIS account)
Please let me know, if you have any doubts on this..
