There are other application starting in the background and their RPR is set not to attach to them, is there a particular reason?
What is viewpoint.exe used for?
Viewpoint.exe is nothing but Galileo Desktop/FocalPoint (also: fplogon.exe). They are one and the same.
MRM portal launches the Viewpoint/FocalPoint exe and initiates a script: pnrpos.key (which is a FocalPoint script = swrun.exe) that actually transmits the message over to Viewpoint/Focal point.
The reason we did not create an RPR for Viewpoint/FocalPoint is because it's a third part vendor app that we use.
MRM just launches the .exe from Portal and sends over some information. We currently do not have an RPR for FocalPoint because it’s an external app. But if we do need to create one please let us know and we can look into it further.
Can see anything in Portal for this one besides the fact that it runs a process called Swrun.exe but we are not tracing it so not sure if it's waiting on it to close...
Does that mean - there seems to be nothing wrong with portal at this point OR is it
safe to say that Portal is not causing the issue.
You can see that different threads in Portal.exe are calling mrmbroker/service.asmx and some responses from the server are HTTP OK (line 50176, 50182, 50219), but some return HTTP 401 (line 50149, 50162 and 50210).
A server side recording might help understnd things better.
I already did some research on the "401 Unauthorized" errors and its part of Windows Authentication when it receives requests. I believe its called the Challenge/Response communcation mechanism of Windows.
I think at this point a new recording on the client and server will be most beneficial in order to continue analyzing this log. If your server has no more issues then those operations will not show up in the log file anymore and it will be a cleaner log. Please modify your recording profile when doing a recording on the client and server. Adding automatically attach to child processes and record application configuration will be very helpful.
Please place any related files in a Zip named "MRM Portal and Focal Point.zip" and upload the Zip file to our Anonymous FTP site; please respond to this email to notify us once the file is uploaded.
