The console log contains the stdout/err from the appserver process startup, plus the appserver log, the appserver log contains the detail specified in the appserver.cf or the log4j files.
The console logs are set in the infrastructure manager for each instance or ultimately the appserverprofiles.xml file.
currently you can only put the console logs in the br directory. the infrastructure management utility will not let you specify a path (/) so the appserver logs are also stuck in the br directory.
Thanks Bill... does the appserver.cf allow you to set the AppServer.log files to have as much detail by also including the stderr output from the app servers, or should we just monitor AppServer.console.log instead?
I don't believe the appserver.cf will let you include any additional detail because the console log is a redirection of the appserver startup (eg ./blappserv > console.log 2>&1 ) and the appserver.log is generated by the process itself, so there are things happening that won't get put in the appserver.log.
