Components or server objects, that is the question.

I have a nice naive question to ask. How do I decide whether to use components or server objects in my snapshot and audit jobs. Here is my specific application.

I want to know if the versions of specific software packages on my Solaris servers deviates from standard. I plan to create a snapshot job that takes a snapshot of the software packages from a single server. I will then create an audit job that uses this snapshot as its master and uses a server smart group as its target. All the servers in the smart group should have the same software packages at the same versions as the master. I expect to run the snapshot job only when a software package is upgraded to a new version. The audit job will be run nightly.

So which makes more sense in this case, using a component containing the software packages in the snapshot job or using server objects?
