RedHat AS4 x86_64 patching issues (solved)

    Olivier KARREMAN

When trying to analyze patches on RedHat AS4 x86_64 with the PatchKit, the analysis fails with an error indicating an architecture mismatch. This error can be found in the /tmp/up2date.dryrun file.

The problem appears to be that in some cases the /etc/rpm/platform file contains a wrong architecture reference which prevents the patchkit scripts to run correctly - the problem is related to the rpm command.

the solution is to force the correct architecture by doing the following:

      cp /etc/rpm/platform /etc/rpm/platform.bak
      echo “x86_64-redhat-linux” >/etc/rpm/platform
