What sort of recommendations are you looking for? Type of SOCKS proxy to use?
we are currently using dante on ubuntu linux on a vm appliance with 1 cpu, 256MB ram, 4GB hd.
with some tuning we've come to the following parameters:
* - nofiles 63535
net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_time = 300
net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_intvl = 1
net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_probes = 10
One thing to note: due to the nature of the current implementation, one cannot use nsh scripts jobs (type 2 or 4) or file deploy jobs against targets needed to be accessed through different proxies: it will always use the configuration for the first target.
For nsh script jobs, say you have a targetA which needs to be accessed through proxyA and a targetB which needs to be access through proxyB, if you put both targets in the same job, and targetA is tried first, it will try to contact targetB through proxyA. You need to make separate groups of targets all accessed through the same proxy.
For file deploy jobs, if you have your files on source targetB or on the fileserver (which should not be accessed through any proxy), if you deploy your files to targetA, it will try to contact the source server or even the fileserver through proxyA. One should use blpackages for deploying these files.
can you submit a ticket for this? actually 2 - 1 to update documentation and another to fix the behavior?
This is defect 35507.
