    Best Practice for DHCP configuration?

Has anyone come up with a "best practice" for the configuration of DHCP when provisioning?

Here's the situation. When you provision a server, it gets it's IP via DHCP. Once the provisioned host is added to the pool in configuration manager, it's referenced by hostname. Therefore, the DHCP IP and the mapping between hostname and IP must be consistent. If it's not, post-install batch jobs will fail.

The solution that I am currently using is to add entries into the hosts file on the app server, and add entries to the dhcpd.conf that map to the name of the managed host. These two steps require a couple of minutes. Not a big deal, unless you're provisioning dozens of hosts.

      Is there a better way?

DNS is not an option; I don't have access.
