    Solaris Jumpstart Question

According to page 557 of the "BladeLogic User's Guide":

"After registering the target and pushing JumpStart scripts, the provisioning job instructs the JumpStart server to run the reboot script. The reboot script connects to the target device and forces it to reboot from the network and send a BOOTP request to the JumpStart server."

      My question is:

How can you tell a server to reboot with a script when it doesn't even have an OS or an IP yet? Whenever I've jumped a Solaris server, I've had to connect to the server's serial console to kick off a reboot.

On a Sun v240 or a v440 there's an ethernet system controller, but the older systems only have a serial console. So how's this accomplished?
