HP-UX Change Password script: Login is currently in use

We have a Change Password script put in by BL and the command to change passwords for HP-UX is:

      /usr/sam/lbin/usermod.sam -p $password $username

We found that if the user is logged in OR if there are processes running by the user but the user is not actually logged in, the command will result in:

      Login is currently in use.

      Is there a way to:

      a. Change the password when only processes are running, but not change the password when the user is actually logged in?

      b. Change the password no matter what?
