I've found the solution myself. joy
Just put data in the exlude removes the data folder. The only problem is that I'm not sure some other folder doesn't contain "data". Any other ideas?
I need this to create two component templates from the files in a certain folder. (automated packaging). But I need them in 2 parts: one with the install/preinstall scripts, and one with de data in the package. (so I can put the execution of the preinstall script in between)
First of all, what you are seeing is the expected behavior of the component template.
Second, if you want to exclude only the data folder underneath ontw folder but you are not sure if there are folders that contain a data folder, then you should try and exclude this -
This will only exclude any folder underneath ontw folder that starts with letters 'dat'.
I've tried the solution you suggest, but it seems I can always see the data folder.
The attached screenshot shows what I did. I've included multiple excludes but none of them seems to catch the data folder.
Do you see where I messed up?

Your implementation is correct. But you probably don't need the first exclude. The second and third excludes should have done the trick.
I would try one of these -
See if that gets you the desired result.
