    Mainview z/OS - Display only jobs?

      Our operators want to display running jobs.  No STC, no TSU.

      Is there a view that does this?

      Is there a way of displaying only certain STC?  As in CICS regions?

      Thank you for your time.

          Hi Kevin

          The answer is yes !  You can customize any of the MainView for z/OS JOB related views to only show the address spaces you are interested in, using either the CUST command, the INCL MASK command (Add filter conditions on the columns) or the WHERE command. Let me know if you need anymore detail.

          Regards

          Simon

            I figured there would be some way to code inclusions or exclusions.

            To narrow my question - Are there any predefined views to that show only jobs?

              Hi Kevin

              No, as far as I am aware there are no pre-defined views, that will show only batch jobs, but the facility is there for you to create one.

              Regards

              Simon

                Hello Kevin,

                From the EZMENU EZMFAST, a link to 'Batch Overview' is already defined.

                  That's great!  The operators would love to set up a PF key for this.

                  Is there a way this screen can be shown using a command line?

                  Thank you,

                  Kevin Kinney

                    Hi Kevin,

                    With the assumption that the operator works with MainView, yes.

                    once you build the 'screen' configuration you want, like the one I did, issue savescr on the command line :

                    savescreen.png

                    Give a convenient name and end to save it.

                    Then change the Keys :

                    pfkeys.png

                    hope this reply to your question.

                    Best regards,

                    Eric

                        There is a small problem though.  It doesn't work.

                        I was able to create BATONLY and verify it on BBSDEF.  Entering "SCR BATONLY" returns JOVERZ.  All address spaces.

                        "Batch Overview" does use JOVERZ, but with some selection criteria.  Where can I find what that criteria is?  How do I apply it to the screen I've set up.

                        Regards,

                          Hi Kevin,

                          The hyperlink from the EZFAST is :

                          So the parameter we specified is : 'ASGJCLS(ALLBAT)'

                          Regards,

                          Eric

                            Hello Kevin,

                            The menu option invoke View JOVERZ with a parameters, when you saved the screen it did not retain those parameter.

                            There are a couple of way to saved parameter when you save a screen definition.

                            By the way to find out the current condition (Filter  and Where if present) you can use the SHOWFilt command.

                            The way to handle what you want is to use a where statement before you save or re-save a screen.

                            You will need to use the HELP on the field you want to use in order to find out its name.

                            Here is the sequence to achieve what you want.

                            1-) SHOWF after invoking the View straight-up to understand the current filter in effect, although in this case you can skip over this step

                            2-)  Use PF1 on the type of address space field

                            3-) Use the element in a WHERE condition

                            and voilà you can save that View in a SCREEN and it will work as you expect.

                            If you need more information on using PARM and WHERE, please let us know at BMC.

                            Regards, Gilles

                              We are deliberately backleveled as the client is on CICS 3.2.  As soon as we get MV in production, we can upgrade CICS & MV.

                              So at the moment, we seem to be using a different syntax.  It would seem that we have a similar syntax in the SCR.

                              I've found the difference in SHOWFILT.  Editing the member in BBSDEF makes no difference

                              Good filter

                              Form  Filter  => ASGNAME = '*' AND

                                               ASIDLYP:AVE >= 0 AND

                                              ASGFL1C = * AND

                                               ASGFLSC <> OTHER AND

                                              ASGJCLS = 'ALLBAT'

                              My filter

                              Form  Filter  => ASGNAME = '*' AND

                                               ASIDLYP:AVE >= 0 AND

                                               ASGFL1C = '*' AND

                                               ASGFLSC <> 'OTHER' AND

                                              ASGJCLS = 'ALLBAT'

                              I'm going to assume this is fixed in a later release.
