LAP needs to have communication with CDP at least.
Which is needed to share its health status with Grid manager which is a component of CDP.
Also for the workflow execution, peer status, administration activities for LAP will be performed by Grid Manager.
LAP cannot work independently, it must be connected with CDP.
Hi and thanks for the quick respons!
Sorry if i was not clear. Yes totally agree the AP need and CDP to communicate with. It is the AP-AP communication that i have aspects on as i cannot open ports between all APs/LAPs as they are separate DMZ network. It works as long as the AP communicate with the CDP but we got some errors all the time that connection to other APs fails.
As the grid need to communicate with all AP/LAP/DevStudio/CDP as specified by BMC.
So can we limit the AP to AP communication to minimize the errors seen.
I haven't tested this scenario ever.
As per my experience to keep the BAO/TSO environment healthy, one should open all the BMC recommended ports between all peers.
In your case, You wan to keep the ports open between CDP<->AP and CDP <->LAP, but want to restrict between AP<->LAP or AP<->AP.
Technically, it should work till the time the Additional peers are able to communicate with Primary Peer.
Still, you can try it in any DEV/TEST environment first and then go ahead. Else, raise a ticket with BMC to get it confirmed.
If a job is running on an AP and if that job invokes an adapter request for an adapter enabled on LAP, then, 2-way TCP/IP communication between AP and LAP is also required. All peers talk to each other using 2-way TCP/IP communication.
HI yes correct however you can always limit where you enable the adapters here but i understand the aspect of this.
You can determine which adapter to enable where, but you cannot determine which workflow to run in which peer. Assigning a specific peer for a workflow, like a workflow should run only on CDP because only the CDP can talk to the LAP is not a good idea. CDP going down will prevent this workflow to run at all, even though AP can run it.
