When a new Plugin is installed on EM Server, such as MFT, the plugin files for EM Clients are supposed to automatically download to the client and get installed. They are downloaded to the client and stored temporarily in folder:
C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Control-M EM\<name>\bin\Plugins\Plugins_Updates\
NOTE: The folder Plugins_Updates gets created when a new download is required and removed when it is installed successfully.
The message you get happens when a prior install of a plugin on the client failed, so the above folder still has file(s) in it that need to be installed.
Most common reason for the install failure is that the user who launches WLA GUI doesn't have permissions to install anything or that the setup.exe program, which is what does the installation, is blocked by a local virus protection software.
To try and fix this, or at least identify the cause of the failure, I suggest you:
1. Stop all CCM and WLA GUIs on the PC where this is happening
Note: if the WLA GUI is on Citrix so all users connected and running WLA GUI need to be stopped.
2. As a local admin, navigate to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Control-M EM\<name>\bin\Plugins\Plugins_Updates\ and run the install program. This will either successfully do the install or will fail and show the reason.
The file in this folder is a ZIP file which you first unzip and then run setup.exe.
3. If the install is successful remove the folder "Plugin_Updated" from C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Control-M EM\<name>\bin\Plugins\Plugins_Updates\.
Hope this helps.
It works, thank you so much for your help.
have a good day.
