Any advice on my Qs above?
I'm since noticed that the Search Template settings I'm using search all domains, as we have one user with the same ID in 2 domains, which is causing LDAP authentication to fail. I'm trying to find out more about that internally, but would be interested to know if there's anything that can be done in the app LDAP settings to overcome those situations?

I don't know about length limitation. I am using the '*' wildcard in my LDAP search template:
We are using another LDAP implementation, so I don't know if it's specific to the LDAP implementation. At least I'd give it a try.
