you can use the endpoint <hostname>/ui/available. If the services are stopped on an appliance, this endpoint returns a 404. Otherwise the status code is 200.
thanks, that was what I was looking for.
Did I miss it in the docs?

Hi Ferry, as far as I know this endpoint is not documented.
It seems like BMC uses this endpoint internally to check wheter the UI is available. To verify this stop the services, browse the appliance ui, open the developer tools of your browser and check the network traffic. Every time the UI refreshes you will see that the application queries <hostname>/ui/available.
Maybe BMC can add this to the docs Andrew Waters?
