    Amazon Linux 2 Platform Support

We are installing TrueSight 8.9.0.3 in AWS and have used Amazon Linux 2 AMIs to support the config and job applications servers.  So far, everything is running without any issues, although we have only done some basic, preliminary testing so far.  The BMC documentation does not list Amazon Linux as a supported platform, but the docs do not list anything specific or have any written recommendations about running in a cloud environment, even though they do support running it there (since Truesight should be agnostic to this as long as the hardware/software requirements are met).

Does anyone know if BMC supports running the application servers on Amazon Linux 2 and has anyone had any experiences doing this?

We haven't tested TSSA on Amazon Linux 2 AFAIK; and since this is not tested and listed under supported platforms it might work or broke for some functionalities.

even though they do support running it there (since Truesight should be agnostic to this as long as the hardware/software requirements are met).

Where we mentioned its supported running it there? Doc?

But yes again, AFAIK as far as underlying h/w and s/w requirements are met it should work.

          Question:

          - since how long you have been running/using Amazon Linux 2?

          - did you run into any issue or problem? Or just a question beforehand?

it's not officially supported.  however amazon linux 2 is based on rhel so it's likely you would not see problems.  it may not show up as an identified type of linux and there won't be patching support for it.

Thanks for the responses.  Here are answers to your questions:

Where we mentioned its supported running it there? Doc?

We didn't see it referenced in documentation, but we asked BMC support for information regarding running TSSA in a cloud environment, if there were any recommendations and whether there were any other clients that were already doing this.  They responded that it should run fine in a cloud environment as long as the prerequisites were met.

Since how long you have been running/using Amazon Linux 2?

We just recently tried deploying application servers using the Amazon Linux 2 AMI last week.

Did you run into any issue or problem? Or just a question beforehand?

The installation seemed to go fine, but we did encounter missing package errors when trying to run the NSH client.  Given that we are in the middle of the migration effort to move TSSA from on-prem to the cloud and trying to reduce the number of changing variables we have to test, we decided it would be best from a support and stability standpoint to leave the app servers running under RHEL for now, and look into the Amazon AMI once until after we are running in production successfully.
