      Hi All,

I have installed the PATROL Developer Console on my client (laptop) today. However, it won't start:

Anyone came across the same issue?

      Regards,

      Patrick

          Hi Patrick,

I think you must have some dlls missing in Patrol common security directory.

WhenI had this issue I  copied all the dll the files from another server.

          Here's what I have under %PATROL_HOME%\..\common\security\bin_v3.0\Windows-x86\

          dir %PATROL_HOME%\..\common\security\bin_v3.0\Windows-x86\*.dll

            Hi Arif,

            Thanks for your reply.

On my client, there are two directories in the path  %PATROL_HOME%\..\common\security\bin_v3.0:

            • Windows-x86
            • Windows-x86-64

In the directory Windows-x86-64 are the all the files containing '80' in their name. In the Windows-x86 this files are missing.

Tried to copy the file in the Windows-x86 directory with no effect. even renamed the directory Windows-x86 and named a copy of the Windows-x86-64 accordingly. This did not help.

            Regards,

            Patrick

Installed the console to a different path than the PATROL Agent. Now it works.

                  Hi Chaitanya

Yes, I have observed the same thing. I think this has to do with some entries in the windows registry regarding the ESI Library. I guess the PATROL Console is not really 64-Bit compatible while the PATROL Agent is.

If you install the PATROL Console in the same path and it is not working, the error message indicates that it expects some DLL-Files in a different path.

One more reason why a state of the art development environment for the PATROL Agent should be provided!

                  Regards,

                  Patrick

You can copy files on Windows-x86 from another Windows-x86 where files are installed. I tried this on my computer and it worked.

Or you can try to install the console by overriding the P3 common sec files.

By default , when you install Patrol console on top of PatrolAgent , the common security files are not being updated.

And if you install Patrol console on a different directory then you can end up with Patrol console running but your PatrolAgent not finding its common files.

                      Thank you Arif.
                      What you say is:

                      1. Install the PATROL Agent

                      2. Install the PATROL Console with "Overwrite current security configuration (keys, certificates and trusted roots)?" set to No

                      Right?

on 2: Install the PATROL Console with "Overwrite current security configuration   Set to Yes

Default is no, so you can try to force it to Yes.

It's something I have not tested myself , If I'll double check this this afternoon.

I tried the [SETP]/BMC/SECURITY/OVERWRITE=TRUE  but it did not update the dll in the common security directory.

Let me test again on another computer , I must have done something wrong.

                            Hi Patrick,

                            Here's what I just tried :

                            1. Install the PATROL Agent

                            2/ rename %PATROL_HOME%\..\install\intshist to %PATROL_HOME%\..\install\intshist.old

if you do it from windows explorer, make sure close the explorer, otherwise it'll  lock the directory

3./ Install the PATROL Console with "Overwrite current security configuration to Yes

if you do it from silent install, you can before running the install edit the silent.ctl file and change

                            [SETP]/BMC/SECURITY/OVERWRITE=FALSE

                            to

                            [SETP]/BMC/SECURITY/OVERWRITE=TRUE

The install will lay down all the dll required under %PATROL_HOME%\..\common\security\bin_v3.0\Windows-x86\

                            C:\Users\arif_>dir %PATROL_HOME%\..\common\security\bin_v3.0\Windows-x86\bmccfg*dll

I believe what is important here is to rename the
